About Me
I am currently 27 and living in Santa Barbara, CA. I grew up in Southern California and moved to San Francisco at 19, where I lived until my relocation in 2010 to Santa Barbara to pursue my MA and PhD in Linguistics at UC Santa Barbara. My research focus is in sociocultural linguistics and linguistic anthropology, and primarily involves intersections of Language with Identity, Sexuality, and Gender. My recent research, including my MA Thesis which will be completed this spring, has primarily focused on language use and identity constrction in the same-sex marriage movement in California, especially during and after Proposition 8 removed the rights of same-sex couples to marry in California.
