About Me

I am currently 26 and living in Santa Barbara, CA. I grew up in Southern California and moved to San Francisco at 19, where I lived until my recent relocation to Santa Barbara to pursue my PhD in Linguistics at UC Santa Barbara. My research interests lie predominantly within Sociolinguistics and Discourse Analysis, and primarily around the intersections of Language with Identity, Sexuality, and Gender. My research has primarily focused on language use and identity constrction in the same-sex marriage movement in California, especially during and after Proposition 8 removed the rights of same-sex couples to marry in California. Details on research I have conducted in this area is available under the "Academia" tab.
